About Compassionate Communication, aka Nonviolent Communication
What are the Principles of CC?
Compassionate Communication raises our awareness of habitual ways we are used to reacting, and opens us to choices in how we hear, interpret and respond in relating to others and the dialogues we have with ourselves.
How does CC work?
With CC we learn to recognise what is behind behaviours that we don’t like such as hostility, demands, blaming and judging. Through connecting to others with understanding and empathy using these new insights, patterns of interaction are dramatically transformed. Connections are deepened, a new level of trust and honest expression rises, and solutions emerge.
CC is based on the observation that when people know they are truly heard, understood and accepted, they feel safe, and enjoy giving to others.
In a compassionate and assertive way, to practice Compassionate Communication empowers both the user and those with whom they interact.
